After starting my Roxio Creator 9 (ver. 9.0.088) I received notice of an update, i.e., ("Multimedia Center for Think Offerings v. 9.05d"). I downloaded and attempted to install it but got a dialog box noting "Setup cannot find a valid version of this software to upgrade. Please make sure you are using the correct upgrade version."  huh.gif

I have NO IDEA what this means since I purchased the full version and downloaded it direct from Roxio/Sonic. Also, there was no indication of what version, (if there is a different v. 9), that this should be installed in, I am totally CONFUSED. If somebody knows if I need to install this, and how to install it, PLEASE LET ME KNOW. (I should note that I have Creator 9 installed on my "D" drive rather than the "C" drive. But, I was never asked where I wanted to install this update but from watching the install, it appeared to know right where the files are installed.)

The Multimedia Center for Think Offerings is actually only for IBM systems.
So, having that update notice appear is faulty in itself.

I guess I would just ignore it, since you boght the retail version of EMC.   huh.gif

Edit: Unless there's an update for the build of EMC9 that you have. (9.0.088)

Good luck.

When in doubt, reinstall.
If it installs, it's supported.

Man, that was the fastest response I have ever gotten to anything online. Thanks for the feedback. But, now I have a bone to pick with Roxio. Why didn't they note in the update that this is only for IBM computers???? huh.gif  huh.gif

Not a problem.
I just stuck, "Multimedia Center for Think Offerings" in Google and that's the result I got back.

Well, the update shouldn't show up at all if you don't have an IBM/Lenovo system.

It's possible that your build of EMC9 does need an update, but it is picking up the wrong update.
When in doubt, reinstall.
If it installs, it's supported.

If you're using Win XP you should try using your System Restore if it wasn't more than a few days ago when you installed it. Go back to a time just before you installed the update and restore your computer to that date and time. (Before installing any new software and/or updates, as a matter of caution you should always go to System Restore and set a new Restore Point. Then if, after the install, you find you're having problems you can get back to that point just before you did the install.)

The only other thing you might try doing, especially if the Restore suggestion doesn't work or isn't feasible, would be to uninstall EMC 9 and reinstall it. But, after reinstalling, when you check for updates make sure you DON'T INSTALL THE THINK OFFERING.  ( I have to say, I really don't think anyone at Roxio gave much thought to their posting this "Think Offering."  huh.gif  Not only is having to deal with the unfortunate consequences of wrongfully installing this update annoying, it is also extremely angering.  mad.gif  mad.gif  Roxio definitely owes everyone the time and effort to correct THEIR MISTAKE[b], as well as a detailed explanation on the download regarding [b]WHO SHOULD DOWNLOAD AND INSTALL THIS UPDATE !!! !!! unsure.gif

Let's get this in perspective - we're all waiting for an update but

THERE IS NO UPDATE

I don't know why some people are getting that IBM Think Media Centre but it is not, and never has been, an update

It could be an update for the IBM/Lenovo systems, which is being pushed to the wrong retail copies of EMC9.  That is why whenever someone with a retail copy of EMC9 receives a notice for that invalid update, it tells them that they dont have a valid version of EMC9 to upgrade from.

It would be great if a Roxio forum staff could clear this issue up.
I don't like to speculate and I'm sure other users in the forum wouldn't either.

It is true that this 'update' is NOT the update for Vista, 9.1...etc for the RETAIL customers, but it could be an update for the IBM/Lenovo customers.
When in doubt, reinstall.
If it installs, it's supported.
