Ok...New here...

It seems DVDit Pro HD doesn't do transition effects and scene detects. Why would such important features be left out? What program is best to do the transitions and scene detection in and what file format should I save it as to import to DVDit Pro HD and burn to Blu-Ray?

I am using a Canon HV20 and recording in HDV. I am looking to maintain the highest quality video.

Thanks!

DVDIt is a DVD authoring software, not a video editing software... that's why it doesn't do transition effects or scene detects

So what program works best to edit and then author in DVDit? Should I save the edited file as AVI, mpeg2 or mpeg4 before bringing it into DVDit??

Thanks!

some of the professionals here use Adobe Premiere Pro or some high end video editing software... personally I just use Videowave in Creator 9 which might not produce the highest quality you are looking for...

I use Avid Liquid 7 as my video editor and I attach a "fade to black" at the end of each episode.  When the DVDit gets it, the black makes a nice transition from one title to the next.

I output the title from Avid as a "Fuse" file.  Don't know what that means; the extension is *.m2v and the audio tracks are separate *.wav files.  I had some troubles when i first started trying to use MPEG2 files to transfer the episodes.  There must be some incompatibility between the way the two softwares interpret the codec.  This technique makes the transition between titles very distinct.  If I were doing a wipe, dissolve or "trick" transition, I'd combine the video into a single file because as you've noticed DVDit don't do transitions.
