So this is my problem.  I have Dell Laptop with Roxio 9 on it I have not had any problems other than that annoying not compatible message until I tried to burn a cd last night and it now claims that none of my music files and most of my video ones exist on my system, both the hard drive in my laptop and my external, despite that I can play them and what not.  It doesn't matter if I use the add button inside Roxio or drag them into it from a win explorer window they tell me that it doesn't exist.  I've tried reinstalling it and was just wondering if anyone had an ideas on why it would be doing this.  I'm out of ideas.

It could be they're in an incompatible format - what type are they?
If it ain't broke, fiddle with it until it breaks, then fiddle with it until you get it fixed

I doubt it, not all MP3's are illegally downloaded copyrighted materials and since there is no way to distinguish which is which simply by a format, I doubt it's DRM. I have converted most of my CD's to mp3's on my HDD's and I have no such issue as this, using Vista and EC9. Plus I have d'loaded mp3's as well (legal), DRM cannot work simply on format, it has to check licenses for copyright protected materials and that's why MS has it's License Mgr in Windows. (well, plus other complicated DRM crap..wink.gif)
And even when DRM does rear it's ugly head, it's not going to make your files look like they don't exist, you recieve a DRM notification I believe.

I wasn't even thinking about illegal downloaded mp3's.  No DRM in the illegal ones.

The OP can see the files, and has gotten the incompatible format from the movie files and the DRM problem from the mp3's.  The OP hasn't said from where they actually originated.
