Can someone inform me as to how I can burn a slideshow from windows movie maker to my samsung writemaster? when I tried to do it with emc9 it took ONE WHOLE HOUR for the encoding process for a ten minute slideshow. what am I doing wrong? or not doing. this is just way too long and event to burn a ten minute slideshow. Help please.

Too little information to go on. List the steps that you took, what kind of file you are trying to burn, and what programs in EMC 9 that you used to try to burn the production.

Also list your system specs, similar to how I have them listed in my signature.

I began by using Windows Movie Maker to make a slideshow with our family photos (I really like the transitions and the options of title and credits page). Because I would be distributing to family I purchased a samsung dvd writer (super-writemaster model SE-S184) to burn many discs. I also purchased emc9 as well for future photo editing, music file management, etc. I used the nero software (came with dvd writer) to attempt to burn a dvd of the slideshow. kept telling me that the wmv format is not compatable (sometimes the file won't even show up in the folder when prompted to add files for burn).

I then attempted to use roxio to burn the same file. I was able to burn once but it took an entire hour for roxio to encode that short file. I was hoping that with this new burner and software I would be able to burn more discs faster. this is just taking way too long. Now I'm wondering if it is even possible to write this wmv file to be played in a dvd player.

I also downloaded a program (blaze media pro) which converts wmv to mpeg. when I burned the file it was horrible. the slideshow seemed to be getting stuck and the music did not match the slideshow. I'm am about ready to return the burner (unfortunately can't return emc9) and give up.

Rendering the .wmv file before burning is a very long process and it requires every single resource your PC has to offer. On my machine it takes at least as long as the original duration to encode (and sometimes even longer). The trick is to shut down ALL background apps (messenger programs and the like) and also to do a spyware/malware sweep to catch anything that shouldn't be there. Also, defragment the drive before starting.

To render - set the output to the hard drive first to create a .iso image file and then open that with Disc Copier. As a standard DVD only holds about one hour of 'best quality', if the file is slightly oversive, Disc Copier will 'shrink to fit' with some loss of quality (if it's only a small amount oversize, that probably won't be noticable)

You missed some information that I asked for.

WMV files are not DVD compliant and are also low quality video. If you still have you production in Windows Movie Maker, open it up and save it as a DV Avi file. Use that for the burn in MyDVD.

Sure it does. Click on File, then click on Save Movie File. On the next screen, click on My Computer, give your movie a name, and select a folder on your computer where you want to store it.

On the next screen, click in the circle to the left of Other. In the drop-down box, pick DV-AVI (NTSC). Follow the prompts the rest of the way.

It should. After you go to File -> Save Movie File.... it starts to walk you thru the process. On the third screen it should say Movie Setting in the top section. If all you have is an option for Best Qquality on my computer, then click on the link below it that says Show more choices. Now select Other Settings and in the dropdown pick DV-AVI
