Is it best to use the Roxio EMC software to import video from a tape or is it usually best to use software that may come with the player or video card.  Two things I need to do and would like to know if I should be using the Roxio software for the import process:

1. Record VHS tape into a PC with a VIVO video card.
2. Read in Digital8 and Analog Hi8 Tapes to a PC with a Firewire cable.

Would like to get the import file to be AVI, I believe so I can easily edit the PC file.  Thanks for any advice.

I personally have found it better to use the software with your capture device to bring in video then use Videwave to edit and output but I've had good luck with both.
