Problems exporting video to PSP Export format MPEG-4 / Portable Device output options not available

Please can someone help!
I have recently got both a Sony PSP and I am trying to convert some media files I have to MPEG-4 format to view on the PSP, but there does not seem to be the option of converting to this format from the drop down list in Disc Copier.
I am using Roxio Easy Media Creator 9 on Windows Vista Ultimate (32 bit). I have selected convert video from the EMC Home screen and Disc Copier loads. I select the media I want to convert in the left hand pane, then in the right, the radio button for output to "Portable Device" is greyed out - even when I have my PSP connected via USB.
I tried selecting the radio button to output to "Folder" instead of the unavailable "Portable Device" and the list of format types I can export to includes MPG-2 and DVD but does not include MPEG-4 / MPG-4. The help function seems to think MPEG-4 is a possible output format - what am I doing wrong? How do I get the "Portable Device" radio button un-greyed out?
Thanks

The help files also say that that choice becomes active when a supported device is connected. So either the device is not supported or is not being recognized for some reason.Does Windows recognize the device?
It also says to output to file on your harddrive and then transfer with the device software.Did you get software with your PSP to do this?
I'm running Vista Home and I get a lot of choices for an output format:
After looking at the PSP manual Windows doesn't actually recognize the device,it recognizes the Memory Stick that is plugged into it.I would then think that you'd have to save the converted file to your hard drive and transfer the converted file to your memory stick to use it.Or if the Memory Stick shows as a drive letter you should just be able to save the converted video there right from Disc Copier.

When I plug in the PSP it does recognise the memory stick - but the portable devices option does not become available. I guess my main issue is that I do not seem to get the option to convert to MPEG 4. The options to convert to I get from the format drop down list in the destination area are:
DVD
WMV HD 1080i
WMV DH 720p
Windows Media Device
WMV 9
MPEG-2 File
MPEG-2 File
More...
I do not get the same convert to options as you have in your screen grab and I don't know why... Do you know if it is to do with the version I have perhaps? I have Easy Media Creator 9 XE which came bundled with my new laptop.

XE is an OEM version (not certain just which OEM it is but it will be a cut-down version with several parts of the full suite missing)
If it ain't broke, fiddle with it until it breaks, then fiddle with it until you get it fixed

The device option isn't going to light up.That will only light if Windows and Roxio regognize the device. That doesn't really happen in the case of the PSP,I take it the memory stick shows as a drive letter. The thing to do in that case would be to go to file and then transfer to the stick.
That being said I'd think that like Daithi says you have an OEM version and that may not include the option to output to a PSP compatible file.
As far as what version you have, open Disc Copier,go to help, about and see what the build number is.
