Hi - I am running Windows XP, Disc Copier 6.2.0.110 My DVD burner is a SONY DVD RW DRU-530A.

I am having a problem all of a sudden burning to a blank dvd. When the disc copier attempts to burn to disc, you can tell it isn't going smoothly. I'll see if I can explain:

Where it shows you how much is complete
13.6 MB of 3.3 GB (as an example)
the counter used to just continue to go up and up at a steady pace, and a disc would be complete in about 15 minutes.

Now, however, it will only go about 1.2 MB, then the counter pauses for 1-2 seconds, then it goes up 1.2 MB more, then pauses, etc...taking about 45 minutes to burn a disc - and the discs don't work properly, they freeze up and are junk.

I'm using Imation DVD-R, and I've never had a problem with them before.

Also, I haven't changed any settings - this just started happening.

If anyone has any ideas, it would be GREATLY appreciated.

Thanks!
Dave

Why not just uninstall/reboot/reinstall and see if it helps?

To quote from a recent post I put on the ECDC 5 board:

If you're using the same package of discs, then you could also suspect a hardware problem. Try cleaning the lens in your drive. Even if you've just opened a new spindle of the same brand of discs, they could be the problem. Just because they look the same to you doesn't mean they look the same to your drive(s).

And the laser could be failing too, but try a lens cleaner.
