Simple solution. Don't do it then, but don't complain about it. You need to get a handle on ZoneAlarm and aVast.

They are all there starting with a dummy file. You may have to unhide the program files to see that folder; I just don't remember. If they are not there, they did not get installed properly.
Also posted in the V8 general area is a link to the pdf version of the full manual
You can also go to the very basic tutorials by clicking here.
If you are new to EMC, you may want to view the tutorials to just get a overlook of what each program does. Once you are familiar with that, the pdf manual is excellent but large. If you have used these two resources, you probably won't use the help file and you will be answering the tough questions on this board.
Let us know if there is any other information you might need.

When I downloaded the update, I dropped my pop up blockers, and I had no problem. And, I didn't get any viruses.
If you want Roxio to get a handle on it, contact them directly. This isn't Roxio tech support. This is a user's forum, and we are users who try to help other folks. You got a solution to your problem. If you don't like it, like I said before, don't do it.

I had no trouble downloading the update and installing, without turning off any blockers - that is not my problem. My problem is with not being able to view the Help files. Before or after the update. There should be no need for pop-ups in the 1st place, I have already bought the product, they don't need to advertise it to me any more.
I know that this is not Tech Support, but it is obviously about the only place to find support (or bitch) because the Knowledge Base was of NO use, "Ask Roxanne" was of NO use, and I was not able to open my own ticket - HTTP error Function not allowed (or some such). I could find no way to directly email Roxio's Tech Support without going via a webpage.
So this is done here in the vain hope that someone in Roxio may actually read this stuff (but I doubt it). I was able to find a workaround elsewhere in this forum, but one that has to be done every time. Not the best way to design software.

The pop-up are there because the help files are html. If you have an HTML reader that doesn't have a pop-up blocker, use that.
