This may be a little lengthy, but due to several similar issues, I hope to find help here. I have an HP Digital Media Center m7334N. I have been burning DVD's from several sources since purchase about 1.5 years ago and about 4 months ago started getting error messages. No one seems to be able to find the problem. The Geeks installed a new burner and that did not solve the problem. They have had me use several different softwares to try and burn a DVD. I can burn a CD. I can copy the data from the DVD creation onto a DVD but cannot create a DVD file that can be read by a DVD player (including another computer DVD player). I am able to create the DVD files and put them on the hard drive. I can copy them to a CD and actually retrieve the data on another computer but it will not play it through normal channels. ihave updated all software, drivers, and firmware. The software that came with my computer for burning is Sonic Digital Media Deluxe vs. 7. I cannot copy a previously created DVD but can copy a CD. The only suggestion now from the "Geek Squad" is a destructive restore. I hesitate to do that because of the time AND the fact that once I restore data I may go right back to the same problem. Types of DVD's created in the past with NO difficulty are slideshows....original movies....shows saved through the media center. Sometimes the drive will read and sometimes it will not. Any suggestions as to the source of my problem.

Do part of all those updates happen to include IE 7 and/or WMP 11? If so, they should be uninstalled and rolled back to IE 6 and WMP 10 or 9. Both IE 7 and WMP 11 have caused many problems with the Pre-v9 Roxio/Sonic software (and many other software programs).
