Am trying to make an enhanced disc using a 90 min disc. There is nothing in the disc size drop down to indicate a 90 min disc. Therefore, i can not write to this disc.

I tried to write to image file, but was told 'the target device is incompatible.'

The enhanced project has both data and audio files.

What to do?   sad.gif

Thanks

Have a look at this -
http://www.mscience.com/faq507.html

It would appear either your burner isn't capable of using 90-minute discs, or the specific disc you are trying to use doesn't like your burner.

90-Minute discs are pushing the limits of reliability.

That is not related to what type of data you are trying to burn to the disc.

Three things have to support it. The hardware (your writer), the software, and the media. Then at what level (lenght or time) of overburning do they support, that is the question.

If you don't have a DVD burner you obviously can't burn to a DVD. blink.gif

In XP click start, right click my computer properties. Then click the hardware tab, then click device manager. In device manager make sure from the view tab at top your viewing devices by type. Click the + mark next to DVD/CD Rom drives.

It would appear the SONY can deal with DVD burning
http://www.dvd-recordable.org/Article1805-...hreshold0.phtml

but the ASUS is a CD burner, no DVDs (reading or writing)
http://computers.pricegrabber.com/cdr-cdrw...770836/details/

Which burner are you saying can't burn DVDs?

If you're in Creator Classic and selecting a 90 min as your disc type, then it's expecting you to have a 90min CD disc. I don;t think it's going to allow you to burn to a DVD disc.

If you put in a DVD disc, then you should be selecting "burn to DVD". DVD and CD use completely different laser setups.

Not sure why you are using RW media - it's ok for testing (or transporting data when the original is safely on the original computer), but since RW media will fade to blank (usually months, but can be days or weeks or years), it is a bad choice if you want to KEEP the data.

Larry, as i stated in the beginning 90 min does not show up.
Lynn, why I want to burn to a dvd is not the concern here. I'm fully aware of the consequences of using rw media.

Also, if under Device(s) summary: Destination Device and sony dvd rw shows up, should be safe to think that the software will automatically choose how to burn the media. The only choices are in the Destinations panel. It is also safe to assume that the correct device is checked.

I do not know why it does not show up on yours???

As you can see, it is available on mine, even a 99 min option.

Edit: Just realized I was looking at V9! When I tried it with V7.5, 80 minutes was all that was availble. I am thinking that it was not avilable in V7!

It is there in V6 and V9 (don't have V8 installed anywhere) but does not show up in V7.5.

What apparently was missed that using an enhanced cd none of that stuff i mentioned earlier shows up. Data discs and mp3 can use the either cds or dvds. but not enhanced nor audio.

James, thanx for the pix. Will have to investigate.

Any suggestions would be welcomed. Does the roxio version matter?

Yes

You could have a OEM (Limited version). We don't know what version you have.

Sometimes.  However, as James said..... version 7 does not have the option for  a 90 minute disk.    At least it doesn't have it on my full version of EMC 7.

There's 80 MB and then it jumps to 4.7 GB. sad.gif
