Since installing EMC 9, a tag has been added to all my digital images called :roxioemcstream:$data and I am asked if I want to keep it each time I move an image to another disk. What is this? Can I remove it? It is a real nuisance. Some internet sources say it can harbor spyware or virus.

Probably should have posted this "topic" as the one I did a few minutes ago. I don't want this and can't find out how to eliminate it. Roxio EMC 9 attaches it to every digital image and I get a message each time I am transferring the image to another disk warning me it won't be included in the transfer. It is bugging me.

biggrin.gif Malekid, Thanks for the resource site. It may not be the best way but I discovered how I could eliminate the Roxio file add-on from all my digital images I keep on my hard drive. Go into the Media Manager Services and disable all "watching folders" functions, including watching at startup of computer. This stops the tags from any new images but leaves the existing ones active. Drag all your exisiting digital storage to an external drive or data DVD and then delete all the images on your regular hard drive. Then restore the old files back to the hard drive, and -- voila!! -- the file add-ons (ADS) are gone!! That destroys the tracking feature of the media management but for me it was not important. A nuisance removed!!

You can also use ADS Spy (free) to remove data stream files.

But do not remove them from image files that are part of EMC 9 itself.

Jean, Thanks for the tip. I downloaded the ADS progrem and eliminated the remainder of the roxio streams and found a bunch of others from different software. This saves a bit of work. tongue.gif
