Hi!
I have just started trying to move recordings from my Sony DCR TRV20E to my PC using Media Import from the Roxio Easy Media Creator V9.
I am connecting my camcorder to the Windows XP PC via firewire, and on connection when I turn on the camcorder it does show up in my device manager as a Sony DV Camcorder under Imaging devices, so presumably this part of the setup is working OK.
On selecting Video from the three available options, and then choosing Sony DV device from the drop-down list of available devices, as the camera starts playback but then almost immediately the device disconnects and I get a window warning "capture device has been lost". The drop down list has reverted to "no devices available for this media type" and the camcorder has dropped off the imaging devices in Device Manager - and there is also the hardware disconnect bing-bong.
I am happy to spend a bit of time passing on any further information, but in the meantime, can anyone point me in the right direction?
John

Make sure you don't move the camcorder while capturing. Slight movement can cause disruption especially if the cable is loose to start. Do you have a good cable? My sister bought a real cheap one and had all kinds of problems like this. A new cable fixed her problems.
