Hi,

Using MyDVD Studio Deluxe 9
Dell Latitude D610

I have created my first DVD consisting of 12 slideshows with music.

1) I edited the Menu Background to remove the awful default background and music and imported a picture and audio track to use.
Now all appears fine on preview. However after burning and playing on dvd player the picture for my background has been replaced with all blank screen. The audio track plays ok thou. Any ideas?

2) Also some of the music tracks I've got on my slideshows (using dissolve transition) allowed me to check the Fit to Music box but others won't let me and this means some of my slideshows end and the music gets stopped too early. Any ideas how I can fix this?

Thanks so much!
Sam

1) That's a pretty old laptop and has an on-board chip. I looked at Dell's web site here but didn't see any new video drivers. Check on what you have and see if there is something newer. If not, and as a last resort, go to Microsoft's update page and run the custom (I think that's what it is called. See if a new driver shows up there. Also make sure that you have updated Microsoft's DirectX 9c. Problems associated with losing the ability to see an image is often associated with older video devices that are not updated.

When you went to burn, did you render in software mode? .. to an ISO file? Read the tips and trick area of the V9 forum. There is a post about "One way..." Read the part about MyDVD and burning.

2) I hope you used Video Wave for the slide show project and not one of the Assistants. The Assistants have limited functionality compared to VideoWave. I prefer not to fit to music or images but set up my slide show in VideoWave and then add the music there. I have complete control over when the music starts and ends and the amount of overlap. You can use two or more audio tracks to blend the music. Again read that thread. You can also watch the video. It is not exactly what you are doing but it should give you a lot of hints. If you can change fit to music, the images and transitions are much too long to cut the slide show image duration that far. Try adding another piece of music or just loop the one you have.

Thanks for the reply.

I fixed the Black screen. I changed the Menu from Motion to Still after increasing the time from 30s to 150s so I could play a slightly longer audio track. I also ran msconfig and ensured only necessary services were started. It could have been either thing that fixed the jpg background problem.

I was rendering using Software since Hardware gave me a very descriptive error!

The slideshows were done using the Add Slideshow wizard in MyDVD so that might explain why some tracks end beautifully and others are a little more abrupt but I was in a time crunch and just did this the quickest way possible. I had been using MyDVD 5 for years until my pc refused to open it anymore hence the need for a quick upgrade. I'll try other methods for my next DVD once I've learnt my way around this software.

Thanks again!
