regsvr32 /u "c:\program files\common files\microsoft shared\dao\dao360.dll"
then.
2- Register it:
regsvr32 "c:\program files\common files\microsoft shared\dao\dao360.dll"
Go to START/RUN then copy and paste the Unregister command in the run box. PRess OK
Do the same with the second command to register.
If this fixes your problem, please post with the video adapter you are using.
This fix so far has worked on all the built by ATI AIW radeon and AVIO cards.

I had this same problem after installing EMC9, Radeon x1600 graphics card and ATI HDTV card in that order. When I tried to use EMC9 I got the DAO install error and I did the unregister/register described above and it fixed the problem

I have a Dell 4600i with an ATI Radeon X850 Pro card. I recently had a power supply failure which then messed up the hard drive. I replaced the power supply and then recovered the hard drive. I then created a new boot drive by copying the old drive over to a new drive using MaxBlast.
Ever since doing that I have had trouble with windows installer error messages. I think I got those cleared up but now I get the DAO.msi error message. I think your fix will work, but I want to make sure that I do it exactly as you state. Thanks!

I was having this problem with my Computer running Windows XP Pro SP2 and my Roxio Easy Media Creator 7 Basic DVD.
I have the ATI All In Wonder 2006 Series Video Card and when I Updated the Drivers to MMC 9.15 and then 9.16 from the 9.14 I continued getting the DAO.msi Error Message no matter how many times I Un-Installed and Re-Installed them trying to eliminate the Error.
AGAIN MANY THANKS to frankcolella!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

One problem though is that after the ATI driver updates from Windows Update were installed, I now have an "Unknown Device" in the Device Manager. I first did the full ATI update from the ATI website and found that I lost several functions from Media Center that were in the original installation software that came with the graphics card so I uninstalled all of the downloaded ATI SW in favor of the original with just driver updates. I'm using the original Catalyst and Media Center. At this time I have no idea what the 'unknown device' is but I'm sure I'll find out when I attempt to use that device at some point in the future...
Thanks for the DAO fix!!!
