Cannot get slide show/video wave to automatically match audio length. Storyline view doesn't show match video to audio button. Just tried to burn from the project, get 5 minutes then loops, also no menu shows up on the dvd, autostarts the slide show... what a piece of #$!).

Perhaps a review of what was done might be in order before any trouble shooting issues with the program.
What do you have for hardware? What version of EMC are you using or do you have just MyDVD or is it something that came free on the computer? If you are using Easy Media Creator 9, or even MyDVD, the following are things to check.
1) For no menu. Make sure that when you open MyDVD and select new project, that "DVD, no menu" is not selected. Since the production autostarts, this is the most likely cause.
Also, no menu also could be due to a video card that needs to be updated. Try doing that and also updating Microsoft's DirectX 9c. In MyDVD, go to the top menu and select tools, options and then select the software render. Output the production to an ISO file and then copy that file to a disc. Read the thread about "One way of doing,,," in the Tips and Tricks section of the V9 forum; it is the same for V8 as well as V9. May of these problems are a result of either the computer being marginal for video editing or it is a result of the computer trying to do too many things at one time (encoding and burning in one step). Make sure you are off the Internet and have defragged your hard drive, shut down your anti-virus and anti-malware etc. to take any load off your CPU other than the video processing.
2) To match video to audio. First , in Video Wave, make sure that loop is not selected (just above the preview) Then read this from the help files:
"Synchronizing audio to the production You can adjust the duration of the images and video clips to match the duration of the background audio clip.
To fit the audio to the video:
- Choose Production > Fit Video & Audio.
The Fit to Audio dialog box appears, informing you what the duration of the items in the production will be if they are resized to match the duration of the audio. - Click OK to accept the change
The video is adjusted to the audio duration."

Regardless of what I say about computer maintenance, there is no need to defrag a solid state hard drive.
