I get this error message - < sbe win32.  You cannot run this program because another version of the software is already running.  Shut down the other program and try again>  on a very regular basis.

I am running Windows XP and using Backup my PC - version 6.0 : build 600B83J version 6.0.0.  The backup is done every night at 2:00 in the morning - the backup is good -  but this error message appears almost daily.  I ignore the message - but wonder why I get it and what does it mean.  I am the only one who uses the computer and am the administrator.

Any ideas?

Not sure why it would give you this message. Do you have more than one scheduled backup? Only other thing I think of is if the scheduler is trying to start the same backup more than once. Have you tried deleting and recreating the scheduled entry?
I believe BUMP uses the MS scheduler to do the backups. You might also try and see if there is anything at MS support.

I have installed the same program on my wife's laptop and both computers are on a network - and herein may lie the problem.  Both computers have automatic backups during the night and maybe there is some interference here?

That's entirely possible. Have you tried using one backup to do both machines at the same time. Not sure if you can backup across a network with BUMP, but might be worth a try. Either that or make sure they are not connnected during backup.
