I am using backup my pc v 4.85 (I know it is old, but it work good) and windows XP pro.
I need some help in figuring out how to do a backup.
I backed up some files that were on my boss’s computer that are not shared on the network. This was done as an unattended backup. I put a password on the set. And it was backed up using the administrator account. I had to restore some of the files onto my computer (changing the restore path), and I get an "access denied" message. I had thought that because I have the password to the set, and was using the administrator account, that the restore to another drive and path would work, however it didn't. I also tried to restore taking the check mark out of the advanced tab restore NFTS file permission, and it still doesn't work.
I now have some folders on my computer that I can not get off "assess denied", and no way to restore the original files on another computer (my boss is out of the office and his laptop is with him). I am the office manager and from time to time need access to some of the files from his computer while he is gone.
Can anyone help me on how to do an unattended backup from a not shared folder and then restore them to another computer on the network?
Thanks,
Backup MY PC Access Denied

Basically - you're stuck until he gets back. The security on the OS will NOT allow you access to a non-shared folder
If it ain't broke, fiddle with it until it breaks, then fiddle with it until you get it fixed
