I get the error message saying the following software is incompatible, however nothing is listed.  When I click on "Yes" I would like to uninstall it, it starts trying to uninstall Sonic CinePlayer.  It starts through the "gathering information" stage and when the progress bar shows about 3/4 through, it loops back with the error message "Setup detected the following incompatible software".  Each time I try to uninstall it, it continues with the same loop.

On my START / ALL PORGRAMS menu, SONIC / CINEPLAYER is listed and I can execute it.  However, when I try to UNINSTALL PROGRAMS using Control Panel, Sonic CinePlayer is not shown.

Anyone experience this problem and / or have any suggestions>

You may have a partial uninstall but still have the registry entries which is what's messing it up

Download the MS Clean Up uitility from here, run that and remove any Sonic/Roxio entries and then try installing again
If it ain't broke, fiddle with it until it breaks, then fiddle with it until you get it fixed

Thanks, that makes sense with what found on the knowledge base which I pasted below:

Issue

Can I choose not to install Backup MyPC, CinePlayer, or MyDVD SlideShow as part of Easy Media Creator 7.5?

Resolution

The above listed programs are mandatory and will always be installed as a part of Easy Media Creator 7.5 and can not be deselected during the installation. Additionally these 3 applications can not be uninstalled individually. In order to remove them you must uninstall the entire Easy Media Creator 7.5 program.

Please note that if you already have stand alone versions of Backup MyPC, CinePlayer, or MyDVD SlideShow then those versions will not be overwritten

I kept EMC 7.5 when I upgraded to EMC8 because it said that 7.5 projects that I had created were not compatible with EMC8...go figure.  I don't know why software companies don't understand backward compatability issues and work to resolve them, or provide customers a solution to resolve them.

Usually you can keep 7.5 when you install 9 (a fair few have done that). The one important thing tho is to uninstall Drag to Disc. This is automatic install on 9 (but can be removed after from add/remove programs where it's a separate entry)
If it ain't broke, fiddle with it until it breaks, then fiddle with it until you get it fixed
