Ok, I'm new here and just trying to get Roxio 9.0 to work with my Dell Dimension desktop loaded with Vista. Vista seems to be a popular topic. I'll make it quick. I see where everyone has been waiting for a patch, but a very recent post suggests that Vista IS compatible with 9.0. However, the Roxio online tech rep specifically told me it would not work and I needed to upgrade. Currently I can copy a mini disk but with no sound. I'm confused by what seems like conflicting posts here, should it work with Vista or should it not? Thanks everyone.

Did the rep indicate that the problem was specific to Vista or that the issue was simply resolved in 9.1?

We had been talking about the fact I had Vista in previous exchanges, but now that you mention it I guess he did not ultimately confirm it was Vista-specific. Rather, he just said my version did not have AC3 audio support and that I'd need to upgrade for AC3 audio support. Sorry, based on the technical problems I was having and then reading through the forums, it seems my mind just sort of lumped me into the Vista/patch/9.1 version conversations when maybe that's not the case after all. (??) My version of Roxio is the one that came free with the computer. Is that DE? Do I just need to upgrade to the "suite" version of 9, or do I need 9.1? Or do I need this "patch" after all? Thanks so much, and I apologize in advance if these are stupid questions.

If it was bundled with a Dell computer it will be the cut-down 'DE' version.

9 suite does work (for most) in Vista but you will have to follow the instructions (posted elsewhere on the board) for the clean install/reinstall to get rid of the opld Dell version

The upcoming 9.1 patch is just that - a patch for the existing 9.0 version. If you buy the boxed set, you will probably get 9.0, depending on the shelf-life of their stock - the download version should be 9.1
If it ain't broke, fiddle with it until it breaks, then fiddle with it until you get it fixed
