Hi everybody,
i posted previously a problem that i have with EMC 9, because it seems that it allows to me to burn my DVD at a maximum speed of 4x when my recorder can burn at 16x (Pioneer DVD-RW DVR-108) and i have to say that with other applications, such as adobe encore DVD 1.5 or Nero 6, i can burn at those speeds.
The media i use report correctly the 1-16x capability, and i used verbatim, TDK, and Fuji.
In a previous article someone told me that the firmware of my recorder is not updated, anyway i have 2 computers, with different recorders, and the problem is the same. With Roxio i can't burn a DVD at a speed faster than 4x. And it's not a problem of PC power too, i use my computers for the video editing and they have both a dual core processor (AMD Athlon X2 4200+ and Intel 3,4 GHz), and so they are enough powerful to write at 16x.
So, anyone encountered this problem? I am grateful to everybody can help me. I like EMC 9, it's a great program, anyway for me, this is a limit if i can't solve it.

Burn speed is set by the disc itself - there is a short segment which is read by the drive firmware that tells it the burn speed, type of disc etc
If the firmware is not up to date, it won't recognise the information and therefore will not burn at the higher speeds
The CPU, RAM, etc have no bearing on this - it's all down to the drive firmware which sets the speed

If it ain't broke, fiddle with it until it breaks, then fiddle with it until you get it fixed
