Hi,

New to this forum and have looked through for the potential solution to my problem. I have installed and removed CD Creator 9 multiple times trying to get Drag to Disc to work. I find this a very useful tool and have been using since CD Creator 5. I saw the DLA error and did the Dell patch; worked like a charm. During this process it tells me that I have an old version Drag to Disc do I want to update, I say yes. It does the removal and new install except it won't show, the menu's have no tab to activate and in the Contral Panel listing of programs Drag to Disc does not show.

What gives? This has become a very peturbing situation.

Drag to Disc is not compatible with Vista and will not work even though a few have said they've gotten it to work. I won't go into the fact that packet writing is not safe.

Thanks for the response. I didn't think I was that much a computer rookie. I assume that Roxio will have it working in the future.

Using Direct CD, Drag to Disc, or any other packet writing software, to back up your important data, is like playing Russian Roulette. You are far better off using Creator Classic for backing up important data.

Correct me if I'm wrong but to sell a product you write a list of features and benefits and then bullet them to gain attention. Drag to Disc is something that got me to buy version 5 and now it says Version 9 does Drag to Disc but doesn't. I honestly feel that I did not get my money's worth on the upgrade from 7 to 9.

We don't sell anything (we're not Roxio, just users)

The advice is that the reliablity of paclet writing for backup purposes is only slightly less tyhan that of an igloo on the Equator (this doesn't just cover D2D but also InCD and any other packet writing app)

If you want to use it (which btw you can't until the 9.1 patch comes out) we'll expect to see you posting again asking how to retrieve data that you trusted to it
If it ain't broke, fiddle with it until it breaks, then fiddle with it until you get it fixed

I don't have Vista, but I know this – Vista has its' own packet writer built into the OS, hence the conflict!

I suspect you would have to disable the Vista packet writing in order to get D2D working. I base this on the fact that only one packet writer can be running in any OS.

You are still going to have some conflicts if you attempt to use any pre-V9 formatted discs. Some examples, although XP based, are here.

I have EMC 9 build 910B68R installed on VISTA HP and it works just fine. biggrin.gif Update compatibility with previous versions doesn't work. sad.gif A newly formated D2D disk did the trick for me.
