I changed my PC from an XP pro to a Vista ultimate. Since I paid for a full version of EMC I thought I would install it on my Vista system.

Problem : in order to install v9, it looks like I have to install v8 before. But after installing file RoxioEMCSuitev8[1].05_efisd and registering it, I'm trying to install RoxioEMCContentCDv8[1].05_efisdj and the installation package tells me that I have to install the first file and reboot. Which I did twice with the same effect.

Is there something missing in my comprehension ?

Ultimately, I'm looking to install v9 without having to install v8 first.

Why did you 'have' to install v8?

That is not Vista compatible and won't be ever

You will have to totally remove it from your computer before any attem,pt at installing 9
If it ain't broke, fiddle with it until it breaks, then fiddle with it until you get it fixed

Yeah, Daithi is correct. Where did you get the idea or who told you, you had to install V8 first ? Just the opposite. However you want to do it, completely REMOVE (not install) V8 off your computer. Then when you get Vista installed (are you doing a dual boot with XP and Vista or what ?) then you can install EMC 9 on Vista.

Actually it's v9 itself because it's an upgrade and not the full version

There is no 'upgrade' version - dunno what you have there but there is only a the full suite, de luxe version, several OEM versions and a trial one

Where did you get it from?

Even if you bought an update version, you have a full installer. You don't need version 8 to install version 9.
