This is getting tiring.  I've have tried every fix listed on the forum.  I mean EVERY one.  Every KB article with the slightest hint it might help.  I have done a clean (I do mean CLEAN) install a number of times.  I've used Windows Install Clean Up and cleaned up even more after.  I've installed the C++ redistributable from the Microsoft website.  I've disabled virus and firewall software while doing installs and uninstalls.  All services that any KB article mentions are there and fine.  I've stopped and started services.  I've disabled services using MSCONFIG.  I don't have any other burning software installed including NERO or any previous version of EZ CD Creator.  I have made sure that the previous version was a CLEAN uninstall.  My machine far exceeds any minimum published by Roxio.  I've now installed the hot fix.  Well that doesn't fix anything either.

This all started because Media Creator 9 stopped working - wouldn't open.  Never worked properly in the first place to be honest about things.  So the uninstall and reinstall just screwed the whole thing up and my odyssey began.

Will this thing ever work properly?  Some of these posts go back MONTHS!!!!

Is there any NEW ideas??????????

I've had so many different problems with this software that it amazes me that this was ever put on the shelves to begin with.
I'm only using it to copy CD's and watch DVD's now because everything else works like doo-doo!

Still waiting for updates too! Are they actually ever coming?!!

I don't know if an update will help you.  You haven't come back and either answered a question, or posted the results of something someone has suggested.   blink.gif

"Is there any NEW ideas??????????"

I don't mean to pile on.  I don't want to slam the company or the developers.  TheyI just want a solution that will work.  My post was born out of frustration at the lack of a fix that works.

I experienced the same problem as Mike.
When I try to create a video DVD from a DivX file I get the following :
MICROSOFT C++ RUNTIME LIBRARY
runtime error!
Program: C:\programmi\Roxio\Disc Copier 9\DiscCopier9.exe
this application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way.
Please contact the application support's team for more information

I also did all suggested in the forum but without any result and in addition I am italian so I also have the problem of the language.
Can someone suggest me some further solutions?
thanks in advance!!!

Listen grandpa, I've searched these boards over and over and have seen that just about everybody has the same complaints and nobody is getting their problems solved.
I shouldn't have to go through the silliness of installing/uninstalling just to find out that I'm wasting my time.
My biggest need for this software was the easy audio capture which crashes after less than 2 hours of recording and I'm not the only one to run into this problem. I'm trying to record a popular satellite radio show that runs for about 6 hours. Some here seem to think that it's too long of a period and that's my issue yet, my cheesy Musicmatch software doesn't seem to have a problem at all. Unfortunately for me Musicmatch is no more and the new Yahoo! software thats replacing it doesn't include line-in recording.
In short, I don't need to waste my time and reply when I can just read these other posts and see that these problems are not getting resolved.
And, I don't care for your wise ass little emoticon either!

I've seen where that gets people.
Nowhere.
It amazes me that you guys defend this software when everybody seems to be having the same problems.
Whatever.
What's really funny is that I didn't even start this thread. Somebody else was pulling their hair out trying to get this joke of a software to work! Again!
Bye, bye.

I don't have the same problems.  Your assumption is absurd!  In these forums, you mostly see folks having problems with the software, which is what the forums are for.

Did you ever take some time to think that there are many who don't have problems with the software?

Oh, and don't let the door.....

Ok people settle down.  This is a software problem.  Not a life and death issue.  Don't need to get so worked up.  My post was just to see if someone out there could provide a new solution since I had tried every solution posted to date.

I have now uninstalled everything again.  I tried to install MOH Pacific Assault and had problems with the install.  With some troubleshooting, Install Shield was screwed up.  Found a solution for that.  Maybe that could be inpacting the installation (and re-installation) of EMC 9.  I'll let you know.

Mike, let us know how it turns out for you.  It may help a lot of users with the same problem.

It is always a sad situation when someone hijacks another's thread.  The hijacker's first post should have been split out of this thread.

Well I tried an install again.  Still get the same error.  So it wasn't Install Shield.  Tried to install the content and got into the fun loop of the error about having to complete an install and to reboot.  So I thought I'd try to fix that error and did some troubleshooting with ideas on the forums.  We'll I opened the program and went to the Classic View and then Media Manager and started getting the C++ Runtime error all over the place.  It really seems to be a programming issue with the program wanting to do Pure Virtual Function Calls.  I can't even get into Media Manager because of the error.

I'm lost.  Talk about a mess.

Hmmm....

So this is what works without error and the things that won't even open becuase of errors:

Opens and appears to work:
Creator Classic
Digital Media Experience
Label Creator
Music Disc Creator
Roxio Backup
Sound Editor
Audio Tag Editor

Doesn't Work:
Disc Copier - Opens but doesn't seem to work - No error
Media Manager - C++ and Pure Function Errors
MyDVD - Opens then C++ and Pure Function Errors and closes
Photo Suite - Errors out and send an error report to Microsoft
VideoWave - Opens but if you choose anything get the C++ and Pure Function errors.
Cinemagic - Opens then C++ and Pure Function Errors and closes
Create Panaramas - Opens then C++ and Pure Function Errors and closes
Mulit Photo Enhance - Opens then C++ and Pure Function Errors and closes
My DVD Express - Opens then C++ and Pure Function Errors and closes
Photo Email Assistant - Opens then C++ and Pure Function Errors and closes
Photo Projects Asst - Opens but if you choose anything the get the C++ and Pure Function Errors and closes

I appears that video does worse than let's say audio.  I have an ATI X700 video card with 512 MB of memory and the lastest 7.6 drivers.

Thats strange.
All of the programs that are working for you are working for me too but I'm also able to use Disc Copier and Cinemagic. I'm not using the photo portions so I don't know if those are working or not.
The one thats driving me nuts though is Easy Audio Capture. After all these months it still does the same thing, crashes after about 1 1/2 hours. I've done everything that has been posted here and still no luck.

"I've done everything that has been posted here and still no luck."

This is the weird thing.  Everything installed fine - including the content CD - the first time.  I even opened the program up and poked around.  Didn't do much though.  But got no errors whatsoever.  Then when I got some more time to try some things out, I tried to open it.  Wouldn't open.  So I did an uninstall and upon the reinstall, I've gotten into this whole looping mess.

So there is something DEEP in the registry that is hosing the whole thing up.  It worked with the first install..........

I've never had so much trouble with any recording software before. I've got it stripped down to bare bones now where I'm just using Disc Copier, CinePlayer (not Cinemagic like I said before) and I've re-installed Easy Audio Capture and I'm going to try and record again for a couple of hours to see where that gets me.
Sorry I don't have any words of wisdom for you. I'm at a loss.
It shouldn't be this hard.

Well,

I was poking around Microsoft's site and came across what appears to be a similar issue in EMC 7.5.  A response also said the same thing was occuring with EMC 8.0.  The C++ error started to occur after a uninstall/reinstall.  Of course, both said that Roxio support was no help.

Interesting.......

Still no luck on this end either.
I've spent way too much time on this and I'm pretty much convinced there are big problems with this software.
There are TOO many here with the same issues for this to be a coincidence.
Time to look elsewhere for a new brand or something. Thank god I only paid $50.00 for this thing and not the full $100.00 when it first came out. Again, it shouldn't be this hard!
Good luck.

I thought I had it.  Poking around the Microsoft site and came across a hotfix that mentioned the error.  The KB article was 884538.  So I called Microsoft and got the hotfix.  I was so hopeful.  Didn't work.

So I uninstalled the whole works again.  Scrubbed the registry.  Let me tell you, Roxio/Sonic leave bits and pieces all over the registry even after an uninstall - which probably is part of the problem.  Deleted what I felt safe in deleting while in the registry.  Then cleaned the hard drive of Roxio/Sonic files.

Pondering my next move.

Mike
