Having the same windows installer problem in EC8.
After reading 100 suggestions and trying 90% of them,with a combined time of at least 12 hours... with no results.
I finally did an analysis of my running processes. And i believe i've found the culprit. In C:\Program Files\Common Files\Roxio Shared\SharedCOM8 was an executable file , roxwatch.exe. After using ctrl,alt,del to stop the prog. from running. I deleted it.
After deleting i rebooted and NO Install popups!! I started EC8 and it seems its working fine.
After checking the operation of EC8 I restored the prog. roxwatch.exe from the recycle bin and instantly the popups started...needless to say back to the bin it went!
