I had previously given up trying to run EMC 9 under Vista but at least was able to install it.
I've now formatted the hard drive and started over with a fresh install of Vista.
Now when I try to install EMC 9 trial, Vista crashes to a blue screen with lots of writing but nothing that appears to tell me much. ohmy.gif ohmy.gif ohmy.gif
So what's up with EMC9 and Vista?? I see we're waiting for 9.01 but 9.0 is Vista certified..... or isn't it?

Vista Ultimate 32
AMD 1833 MHz 2500+
2048 MB
Asus A7N8 Mobo
Radeon X1550 (256 MB)
2 x Seagate 320 Gig

I have seen so many posts of folks having problem with Vista (not limited to Roxio software), that I have to wonder why anyone would install Vista on their computer.

I would term it as Vista not being EMC 9 certified, not the other way around. tongue.gif

The 9.01 patch is coming out soon, hopefully. There are folks who have posted on these forums that EMC 9 works okay with their Vista install.

Can't argue with your comments on Vista, however I've been able to overcome all of the Vista problems that I've encountered (mostly by throwing money at every problem) yet EMC 9 (or any other EMC) just won't run. Unfortunately Vista is here to stay and other Software makers have to conform if they want to grow. It's hard to buy a PC now without Vista already installed on it.
I've always had problems with EMC and didn't really expect it to work without a hitch when vers. 9 arrived.
It seems though that problems with EMC are getting bigger with every new release instead of the other way around. The program becomes more and more bloated (just like Vista) without problems in previous versions being addressed. I sure wish Roxio would concentrate on making EMC a stable program rather than adding new crap to what is already way to diversified. Quality rather than Quantity is what we need most. angry.gif
Hopefully the delays in 9.01 are an idication that the fixes are actually being tested rather than just throwing them against the wall to see if they'll stick. cool.gif unsure.gif

I'd say the same thing, in reference to quality, about Vista. I do hope that software manufacturers get squared away, so their software works with Vista, but I will only install Vista, if forced to. Windows XP has been rock solid for me since the day that it came out.

Funny - I sort of recall something similar being said about ME wink.gif

I'm recommending to all my friends to wait until at least Vista Sp1 before taking the plunge. Unfortunately I got curious when I read all of the very pro and very con reviews and spent the $300 to see for myself.

With Vista and all of my programs now loaded I only have problems with EMC and if necessary will install WinXP on a seperate partition to run it. I've come to like Vista and wouldn't want to go back.
But then I also had problems running EMC 8 and 9 under Xp, especially when running the Video programs.

My issue is with EMC being Vista certified. From everything I read it at best appears to be a hit and miss and therefore it should NOT be advertised as a Vista compatible program. EMC 7.5 works better under Vista but then I can't use the .dmsm files that originated in EMC 8 and 9 on other machines. Amazing that Roxio would use the same file extensions in different versions when in fact they're not compatible. ohmy.gif mad.gif
