Why does EMC9 try to access the internet every time it starts up? And how do I stop it?

Looks like every time EMC9 starts up the file creator9.exe tries to connect to 209.10.41.84 on port 80. At lest that is what my firewall log is telling me.

Why? And how do I shut that off please?

It's looking for updates for the software. To stop it, click on the desktop icon, then click on Tools, then on Options, then uncheck the box to the left of Check for updates. I think that this stops it.

Nope, tried that before I posted. That doesn't stop it.

Aside from that I also have roxio_central33.exe trying to get out too. It's trying to go to 63.236.55.31.

That's the blurb screen on the home app - it keeps telling you 'news', offers and update availability

If you launch the apps from programs, start instead of the desktop icon, it should prevent it from opening

Ah, got it. Thanks. That makes sense now because after you posted this I allowed it once and it brought up "info" on that main screen.

Thanks.
