In addition to the other issues I am having with EMC9 (see http://forums.support.roxio.com/index.php?showtopic=23871), every time I open up any of the components I get the product registartion window. I can click on "Cancel" or I can select the "Don't show me this again", or I can proceed with the registration. None of these prevent the window from popping up again when I rerun that component or another component.
The product appears as registered when I go to my on-line profile.
Is there a registry entry that needs to be switched or any other suggestions?
Thanks

Did you check that any firewall you may be using isn't blocking the registration?

Actually, yes. I did not note previously that if I proceed with the product registration I get a "You have successfully registered..." message after a few windows.
I am getting so frustrated with this software and from what I can tell, I'm not going to be able to return an 'opened' product. Is this how Roxio makes their money? Charge high enough of a price on one piece of software so that when a consumer decides not to purchase anything else from Roxio, they have made a large enough profit to not care.

Another possibility is if for some reason the registration info can't be written to the registry. Either permissions not set to allow, or possibly some security software actively preventing writing to the registry.

Not sure it would be the same on your system as we may not have the same version of the EMC 9 suite, but I do have a key at

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Roxio\Registration\RoxioCentral33

that contains the DWord value RunRegApp. If its data is set to 0 that should tell it not to run the registration app when you open Roxio Home. If set to 1 it would run it.
I don't know whether that would also stop registration from appearing when you open other components, but I think probably yes.

There is a similar value for BackUp MyPC at

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Sonic\Registration\Backup_MyPC6

Thanks for the information but both of those data items you noted were already set to 0.
I continue to search for a similar tag in the registry and for information online to fix this problem...

Thanks

Bump for any fresh ideas. This is highly annoying that I can not get rid of the prompt!

I have had somewhat similar experience with other software and a modified version of the advise gi7omy offered earlier has cleared the problems. Rather than just checking to see if ok in firewall, I have had to flush (clear) the firewall list. While this requires "re-training" the firewall as to acceptable programs, it has cleared the problem with other software that I had somewhat of the same problem. As EMC "phones home" when you open the application to check for possible updates, special offers, etc., I wonder if a glitch in the firewall permissions might not be causing it (EMC) to think it is not registered if it cannot make contact for one of these items? I would assume the registeration would be stored in the register, but who knows for sure other than Roxio's programmers. I know at times I have used rather un-orthodox methods in some of my code.
