I am trying to burn to DLT and each time the software treats the disc as dual layer even though it is programmed as a single layer disc.  The problem began in DVDit Pro 6.0 and then tech support sent me a 6.1 patch to resolve the issue but the same problem happened.  I even tried purchasing the HD version of DVDit pro but that program wouldn't even recognize the DLT deck so I had to return the software.

I have burned to DLT without difficulty in the past, using 6.0, so it's strange that this problem suddenly arose.  There have been no changes to my hardware and tech support acknowledged that this is a software issue. I still have an open ticket and am waiting for a resolution but it has been days since I have heard anything.

Has anyone experienced a similair problem and know of a way to fix the problem?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

that should not be the case.  are you including CSS?   why don't you try a clean install of 6.1. look up "clean install DVDit 5" and you will find instructions.  try again after the clean install.

Thanks for the reply Scott.

No, I am not including CSS.  The replication facility normally takes care of CSS and prefers that I do not include it on the DLT.

I've performed a clean install each time I have had to re-install the software and unfortunately it has been of no help.

Actually you are lucky.  I can't even find the WRITE MASTER dialog box, nor BURN MASTER drop-down menu.  So I can't even write MASTER to neither DVD nor DLP.

Can you tell me where to find the WRITE MASTER dialog box ?  If I find it, I may be able to choose either DVD or DLT to write on.  Thanks.

What version of DVDit Pro 6 you have?

If you have DVDit Pro 6 (6.0 or 6.1) you may only see the Write DLT option if you have a DLT machine attached to your PC.  Not sure on 6.3, it may have the same or it may have a Write Master option under the Burn menu.  DVDit does not allow you to write a DVD master to DVD...only to DLT.  If you want to write a DDP master to DVD, you can do so by outputting a DVD Volume to your hard drive and then using Gear Pro Mastering Edition to write the master.  They have a trial version on their site.

I am using a Quantum DLT-V4 drive running Windows XP.  XP recognises the drive and the tape with no problem through a USB 2.0 connection.  So DVDit Pro 6 should also see the DLT-V4 drive through XP.

Any suggestion?  Is there a bug in the DVDit Pro 6 program that makes it incompatible with Windows XP ?

Actually, my DVDit Pro 6 cannot write any MASTER, neither to DLT, nor to DVD-R, because it simply does not have the WRITE MASTER dialog box for me to choose what kind of media, and does not have the choice of writing MASTER under BURN.  The WRITE MASTER dialog box is simply not there.

Contrary to what the manual says, It has no provision for writing MASTER, period.
