Getting Date/Time Stamp from Mini-DV to Computer

When I play my video on my Gr-D370U JVC camcorder I see the date and time stamp on the display but when I transfer the video to my computer there is no date or time stamp on the captured video. Am I doing something wrong. I tried capturing it as a avi and mpeg2 file but same result.
