I burn data CD roms from my Vista machine just fine. But when I attempt to use the CD rom on my Windows 98 computer, the 98 machine sees NO data, nothing. I use drag and drop as well as Roxio's program to burn these. I am burning drivers for the Win 98 modem. Only a modem driver. Also attempting to use the Winzip app, still not seen on the CD rom in the 98 machine.
HP rep told me to change the options, under write once only, no change. Then I reverted back to defaults, and still nothing.
Rep told me this is a software issue, not HP's problem.
Anybody have some clues here? Maybe I should ask HP to eat this computer
WIN 98 doesn't see Vista Files HELP!

I think you should use Creator Classic instead of Drag to Disc which will make a simple data disc that should be readable in Windows 98.

I'm using Creator Basic, v 9 that came with this HP computer. Is Creator Classic part of this or is it another program that I would have to buy? I can't afford additional software. Is there a usable demo of classic?
Thank You

Don't know as I don't have the basic version but with the name Creator, I would think it should make a standard data disc.
There is a trial version of EMC v9 here.

I don't think I would install a Trial version over the top of OEM software already present…
I would go through the Start Menu to Roxio – Data – and Creator Classic should be listed.
Another alternative is to use Vista's built in burning. First disable D2D so there is no conflict. Then just copy the file to the Burner and follow the instructions. It will create a Data CD w/Sessions so that more can be added to it later.

I tried that with looking for "classic", but I have the basic that came with this lame HP .
I am not sure just what is Vista's built in burning, the help puts me into Roxio. How do I get into the built in, and where is the D2D option? In the burning program?
THANKS

I don't have Vista but Vista includes both Data and Packet Writing.
Drag to Disc is normally shown by an Icon in your Systray. Another way to check is to look at the Task Manager (Ctrl-Alt-Del) under Processes. If D2D is present, you can highlight it and End Task. – this will work until you reboot.
If you examine the Properties of your Burner drive you should have a Recording tab. I suspect this is where you can activate Vista burning.
