I recently installed Easy Media Creator 9, in large part for the backup programme included.

I have tried repeatedly to backup to an external hard drive (and even onto my machine's hard drive), but to no avail. The programme spends a long time trying to retrieve the project size, then either produces an "Error creating layout" error or it simply tries once more to retrieve the project size before failing (with no error message).

I was given a long set of instructions from Roxio to disable all my startup programmes and most services using msconfig (as well as disabling User Account Control or UAC), but this did not change anything. Has anyone else experienced this problem? Have you found a solution?

Are you using Backup MyPC (also known as BUMP), or Roxio backup?

Roxio Backup is not included with V9. It is either BUMP or doing it manually thorough Classic.

Sorry, my bad. I meant Easy Archive, which is the other option on Home/backup. Don't know whether that actually uses Creator classic behind its own GUI. I've only tried it once, seems not very useful.
