Everything I record (cassette tape, CD) is terribly noisy. I'm using a 1/4" headphone output plug and 3.5mm input plug. Cleanup has no affect on it???

You should be using the line in jack instead of microphone if you can.
"Do you wanna see me crawl across the floor to you?
Do you wanna hear me beg you to take me back?
I'd gladly do it because....."

I don't have a line in jack other than the Mic.

Could be the Mic jack is being overdriven.Try turning down the Microphone input in Windows sound mixer then adjusting your volume in Record Now.

I bought a new laptop to record old tapes & LP's. I recorded a tape in Vista Sound Recorder and was successful but sound was not real good. I installed Record Now9 but everything I record after installation has loud screaching and other sounds over the music. What went wrong? I have uninstalled and reinstalled but have same problem??
