I recently installed MC 9 and one of the first things I attempted to do was copy a music CD.  The burn appeared to complete successfully.  I then used Windows Media Player to play it.  It appears to be playing but there is no audio.  There are no indications of errors.... I just don't get audio.  Other audio CD's play fine.  Any help in resolving this issue would be greatly appreciated.

Did you use Music Disc Creator?  If not, try that.

Could it be a copy protection problem?  It won't copy if the cd has copy protection on it.

No, I used disk copy.  But I've learned something new.  I tried copying an old music CD that I know is not copy protected and it copied and plays fine.  So now, I'm wondering if I'm running into copy protection issues that may be on the CD that I'm trying to copy.  That CD is a copy of the original.... so the one that wouldn't play is a copy of a copy of the original blink.gif .  But if that's the case, shouldn't I have gotten some kind of a warning or an error message?

New problem.... I attempted to try your suggestion of using Music Disc Creator.  When I started that program, a window came up saying...... Please wait - Loading Components...... and there it hung for close to a half hour before I killed it.  Any clue what that's all about?

zoomer,

With the copied disc in a drive open Creator Classic under data. From the top left tools, Disc and Device Utility. Does it show CD-R, Audio, 2 Sessions, # of tracks, Free Space, Used Space? Or CD-R Audio (with CD text) 1 session, not recordable, used space?

Tell us what yours shows and if you show a session properties that also, like session closed"

zoomer,

is 461.8MB the size of the disc you copied?

Open Creator Classic, place the disc in the drive. On the select source, navigate to the drive and highlight it. The tracks should show on the right pane under track view. Highlight a track and click the play arrow in the bottom of the track view box. Make sure the volume is turned up, do you hear it play?

The disk capacity is 700 MB of which 461.8 is used.

When following the procedure you requested, the track appears to be playing but there's no audio.  If I repeat this procedure on another good audio CD it plays fine.

cd

As I mentioned before, I made a copy of the original CD.  I don't remember what software I used to burn this but it was before I bought EMC 9.  After buying EMC 9, I burned another copy, using the first copy as the source.  It's this second copy that won't play.
