hello
just moved to Florida and got hit with a lightning surge. Blew up my mother board. I have tons of footage I put together using Sonic MyDVD 6. Of course the new computers now have Vista and 6 will not work. I bought MyDVD 9 without sucess, it will not open the files, already created in 6, unless someone knows something I can do. However I bought another computer that is running XP and I have all my files on a external drive. If no one has a answer for the Vista or MyDVD9, does anyone know where I can purchase MyDVD6 again to open these files? There is no way to recreate these, so I need help !!!1
thanks
kato

I'm not sure on the Standalone MyDVD 9 products, as I have EMC 9 Suite, but you should be able to import those MyDVD 6 projects. You don't "open" them like you would a v 9 project. Instead, after you open MyDVD 9, go to the File menu, and there should an option (about 1/2 way down) labeled "Import MyDVD Project". That will open a window that filters on the .dvd project files.
Once the project is imported btw, it won;t look exactly like it did before, as 9 will use it's menuing theme in place of the 6 one. But all the chapter marks, etc should still be there.

I tried that, the 6 did not save it as a .dvd I guess, as I was unable to open the file, I can see the files, but when you request it to import, it only looks for .dvd and they are not there. I might be looking in the wrong place, but remember I have my files on external hard drive. Any other ideas?
thanks

MyDVD 6 uses only the .dvd extension for the project file. If yours aren't .dvd files you are trying to open, then what are the extension of them?

some of them are DVD, but most are SES, because I took several pieces of footage and put them toget in MYDVD6. It then put them all in the same floder, yet I cannot find the one file which puts them all together with the background and the menu. Where should I be looking? Also all my file are there for 6, however it is looking for one and saying if I reinstall it it should find it. However I can see the file it needs, any ideas?

The main .dvd file is your project. The session (SES) folders are just pieces of the notes for the project and instructions for how to use the particular file you added. You can only import the main .dvd project file into MyDVD 9. If everything is still in it's original place and the session folders haven't been messed with then it should import it just fine.

its funny I found a trail version of 6 on a old sonic site, downloaded it and it opened with some parts of my 6 and the new 6. I was able to find my files and burn some of them, however it was crashing. If I opened the trial version, XP would crash and if I opened the old version it would open, but crash on every 3rd disc. so I deleted both versions . I purchase MyDVD 9 and it will not load any of the 6 DVD files, so I am stuck. I appreciate the help
