Vista Basic does not play DVDs Please advise on how to remedy this.

I gather that I need dvd decoder. Don't really know what this is. Is it download, will it work, what back-up?? please advise. Many thanks

That's a bit strange - from the klite decoder pack website:

Maybe that only applies to the better versions? Not sure why you are asking this question here. Do you own a Roxio product? EMC 9 includes Cineplayer which also installs a DVD codec.

[color=#330099]I got a link via Microsoft that led me here-I have Roxio installed on my Dell computer which runs via Vista Home Premium but my new Toshiba laptop has basic and so I wanted to know which is the correct product to buy[color=#000066]

EMC 9.1 will install and run in any version of Vista, however, check the graphics in the laptop first as that's a critical component. If it is a dedicated chipset with its own RAM, then no problem - if it's S3 Vierge or some of the Intel chipsets using shared RAM you may have trouble with VideoWave and MyDVD
