Got an HP notebook (nx6325) that came with Sonic software. I successfully burned some DVD's, but when I tried to make copies, it was no go. I contacted Roxio, they sent me to a "fix" site that had me paste a code into the "Run" program which re-registered the app. Then they had me uninstall Windows Media Player 11 and install Windows Media Player 10.
Still no luck.
I downloaded a trial of Ulead DVD 6 and it copied the non-commercial disc fine.
I'm hoping somebody here can help me get my Sonic working properly, as I really don't want to spend the extra cash for Ulead when my trial runs out. I need to make copies of my own non-com instructional videos for my wrestlers.

After doing some searching on this board, it appears that this has been a problem since November of 2006. Is it possible that no one from Roxio or Sonic has done anything to fix this issue since then?

I did so. They are no help. They had me uninstall then reinstall the software. They seem clueless about the issue.
My question is why would they even ship the Sonic product if there's been a significant number of issues regarding its use, especially with IE 7 and WMP 11?

Weird...Copy now works OK. Let me see if I can reconstruct this for clarity.
With WMP 11 installed, copy did not work. After pasting suggested code in RUN and re-registering, copy did not work. During uninstalling of WMP 11, I was asked if I wanted to "rollback" to previous version of WMP on my computer. I said yes--assuming that it was WMP 10. After rolling back, I downloaded and installed WMP 10 anyway. Copy still did not work.
I tried to launch WMP separately to watch a video and got a message that the "numbers" didn't match. Did I want to install WMP from the web? I said yes, but that click took me to WMP 11, which we know doesn't work with Sonic 7 plus. I also noted that while in the Sonic program, the "Watch Video" function did not launch any player, but took me to Roxio's website.
Strange.
In any event, on a whim, I decided to try copying a DVD from Sonic. Bingo. Copy worked, and plays on WIN DVD, though WMP would not launch again.
Is it possible that I had WMP 9 originally installed on my notebook? And if I remove or rollback WMP 10, everything will work as it should?
Dunno. But I'm afraid to do that, because Sonic is now copying correctly. My dilemma now is, should I take the chance, or should I just not use WMP 10 for anything and keep Sonic functioning?
Also why isn't the Watch Video feature of Sonic launching a viewer as it's supposed to? Does Sonic use WMP as part of its viewing platform?
Man, this has been frustrating.
