My new "Flip Video" takes excellent 640x480 divx encoded avi files.  Windows Movie Maker recognizes the files.  But I have not found out how to create a DVD using EMC9.

Tips?  Ideas?

Update:  Picassa 2 also recognizes the avi files.  Still unreadable by Roxio.  Strange.

If you try to use the file in MyDVD and get a red circle with a line through it you may be having this problem.Have you updated DivX since you installed EMC9?The first time you run the DivX stuff that's included with EMC9 it'll say there's an update. If you install it then that's when the situation outlined in that link fix.

Thanks... this describes my symptoms.  Tried "repair"... it says it can't find a file *Suite.msi.  Not on my PC.  Not on install disks.  Now removing the program.  Will attempt reinstall.

Dave

Thanks for tip.  My time-consuming solution:
a.  remove EMC 9
b.  reinstall EMC 9

Now results are excellent!

Be careful!!!
Doing what you did will solve the problem but only temporarily. If you do the update to the DivX applications it will again switch the files and you'll be right back to the original problem,if it was the problem outlined in that post.

I need some help!  I gave my son a Flip Video for Christmas and he loves it.  But I can't make a DVD (that will playback on home DVD player) from its AVI files.  I get the terrible "circle with a line through it" symbol next to files.  I have been able to make DVDs from other videos made from a digital camera.  I've used gspot and found that I have needed codec installed.  I've reinstalled 3ivx as instructed from Flip Video.  Anyone have suggestions for a frustrated, not too technical, mom?

If Gspot says you have the codec and it still doesn't work then maybe you need to follow the direction in the link I gave to 2cvdave.
