I have a backup set that about 22 gig in size.  The estimate is 3 dual sided DVR+R DL disks.

At the end of burning the 1st (of 3) disks, I get the error: "The target devoce cannot write to a medium large enough to fit the current data set size": 0x0000016

On clicking "Try Again", the program ejects the disk and asks for disk 2 but does not proceed to write anything to it.  Basically, I am unable to backup my files to a set that spans multiple DVD+R DL disks.  I have selected the option to not span files across two disks.

Is that normal?  What should I do to make this work?

I am guessing that you are using Easy Archive rather than BUMP???

I am giving it a try (never used it) now but it will take a while…

FYI: "dual sided" discs have a write layer on both sides of the disc, very rare…

The DL discs are either Dual Layer for 'dash' media or Double Layer for 'plus' media.

I meant Dual Layer (sorry for the confusion).  These are DVD+R DL disks by Verbatim

No, I am using a program called "Roxio Backup 9".

How I wish I could post screen-captures (or e-mail them to you).  But I don't have that feature enabled in this BBS ... :-(

The files in the directory in question are:

C:\Program Files\Roxio\Backup 9>dir
Volume in drive C is OSApps
Volume Serial Number is 748D-88A3

Directory of C:\Program Files\Roxio\Backup 9

03/03/2007  09:25 PM    <DIR>          .
03/03/2007  09:25 PM    <DIR>          ..
08/09/2006  05:24 AM               817 Presets.xml
08/09/2006  05:27 AM           884,736 RxBackup9.exe
08/09/2006  05:27 AM           503,808 RxBackupRemind.exe
03/03/2007  09:25 PM    <DIR>          Skin
               3 File(s)      1,389,361 bytes
               3 Dir(s)   6,364,532,736 bytes free

This is not BUMP7.  I have another thread on why exactly I ended up with Roxio Backup 9 and not BUMP 7 ...

Yes I have been following the other thread and all you are doing is confusing yourself with the names…

There are 2 programs and only 2! Easy Archive  and Backup MyPC

You are confusing yourself by trying to also refer to them through their executable name or folders names you are finding.

The programs are either Easy Archive  or Backup MyPC. Stick to that and your confusion will go away.

I would switch to some DVD RW media and try your project that way. You only need to let it burn 2 discs to confirm it is working.

If the RW's work then you will need to decide if you want to pursue the DL issue… You can open a web ticket with Support but to be blunt about, I doubt you will ever see a fix in V9.

With all due respect, could you please tell me whether you have an executable file called "RxBackup9.exe" on your system?

Also, could you post the name and size of the executable that the shortcut in the Start menu for BackupMyPC points to?

It is clear that most here have not experienced what I ant the author of this thread http://forums.support.roxio.com/index.php?showtopic=9611 have encountered.  Ill try his approach (complete uninstall and re-install) and see if I am able to get BUMP 7 installed on my system.

I could send you  screenshots of Roxio Backup 9, if I knew your e-mail address.  Mine is aprasad@columbus123.rr.com (please remove the numerals from this address .. I have distorted it here to foil the spambots).

I am not going to run 2 thread on the same subject in two different areas, so this one will be closed.

We will continue in the Installation/Uninstallation/Update thread you started, Here.

But to answer your question about RxBackup9.exe, NO. It is present in the CAB but it is not a program file in V9.
If you look at the screen cap I included in that thread, here, the shortcut for Backup MyPC is pointing to C:\Program Files\Roxio\Backup MyPC\sbewin32.exe.

I think you said so, but please confirm you purchased the Full Retail V9 Suite and we an not dealing with an OEM disc that came with your computer or one you got at some bargain price source???
