Not enough NO information on your computer and little on what application you are trying to use. In fact, there are three Versions of EMC 8 plus some stand alone applications and about 10 or so Lite versions of the software that you can get from computer and hard ware manufacturers. In fact, you didn't tell us what format the capture was and if it is a tape or disc camera.

You'll have to give us more than a hint.; aka a My car won't run post .  blink.gif

Regardless of what I say about computer maintenance, there is no need to defrag a solid state hard drive.

ok fair enough point thought it was enough info to at least start my box says emc 8 essentials if that makes any difference.
the cam is a sony tape dcr-pc107e
the hint i had seen on here was to run msconfig and disable all (done that no difference when it gets to about 3 or 4 % the oc shuts down
when i chech the properties of the clip it says video clip?
i hope this is more info to help but i am new to this sort of thing and was directed to this by another member

many thanks

And the computer?

MyDVD 8 Essentials is a cut down version of the software. It is limited but the following may help depending on your computer,

Open MyDVD and see if you have this option. In the top menu, go to tools then options. if a window opens, put a dot near software. Now try.

How did you capture the tape? Via a USB port or via a firewire port. When you captured, did you select AVI or Mpg or other (that's a software selection.)  Did you use Sony's capture program?  You do have a firewire port (IEEE 1394) you can use that.  You cannot use the USB port if you are using Roxio to capture.

Please post back with that 1) computer spec, 2) if you have the options I just listed and 3) if you were able to get anywhere. We're still playing a guessing game.

If you have a reasonable computer, there is no need to disable all your services; you may need some. Just shut down everything that you do not need running such as anti-spyware, anti-virus, e-mail, etc.

The more information you give, the faster the resolution. I bet that you will post back with all the things that didn't work and not any answers to my questions or what happened when you try my suggestions. If you do do a half-baked post, perhaps someone is better at a guessing game.
