Using slideshow assistant I loaded the photos (96) then added the background audio (7:22) then selected next. The "fit to audio" box will not let me check (use) it. Why ? I am using Transition style "Dissolve". This worked before (months ago) but now I can't "fit to audio". I rebooted the PC same, reloaded the slideshow as above, same result... and the song it not long enough by about 20 seconds. Why wont the fit to audio box let me check it ? Your help is appreciated. Thank you.

This is the 3-step wizard? Does the Slideshow Assistant allow you to edit the project in Videowave? Check the third step. Go to the Timeline mode in Videowave and try the Fit to Audio there.
Edit: In Step 2 of the Assistant, if you specify the Slide duration to be shorter than the audio, the Fit to Audio box gets enabled.

Don't forget that transition durations take up the same number of seconds of the image display time. An image with a display time of 3 seconds with a 2 second transition on either side will actually display for 1 second. If the image time is short already, and the transition takes up part of the display time, then there may not be sufficient time for the image to display properly.
IMHO A good image display time for people to actually mentally see what they are looking at is between 5 to 8 seconds. That's a 3 to 6 second display time with 2 second transitions. Shorter, people miss things; longer people want to image to change so their mind wanders.
