I recently bought an hp pavilion dv2220la and the roxio easy creator 8 came already installed, my question is do I need a software update? I would also like to know, do I necessarily need a cd rom to install the update?

If you're asking if there are any updates for your version of EMC 8, you'd need to check with HP since it's their OEM version they installed.

If they supply you an update, you'd only need to use your cd drive if they send it to you on a disc. Most updates come in the form of downloaded files.

One warning here - when you go to do the Microsoft updates, make absolutely certain that you do NOT download and install Internet Explorer 7 (it's classed as a 'critical' update). Also, do NOT download and install the optional Windows Media Player 11

Both these apps will wreck EMC
