Hi, i recently bought roxio media creator 8 for my computer and installed it on my system. I'm running a 2.4 GHz P4, 1 GB Ram, w/ windows xp sp 2 . i'm having trouble with videowave8; it runs very very slow, usually taking minutes for a response from the system, when i minimize it the rest of my computer seems to be running fine, but the program, just drags. i have the vrs 8.5 update installed, i've tried reinstalling the program, but it was to no avail. i've defragmented as well; i'm using video wave to a make slideshow, and i've read other forums, and tried many other things to make this work, but it doesn't seem to help anything? any ideas?

That indexer is creating the proxy files that help it run faster the next time you work in that slide show. It should take about three minutes to settle down and you should get back to a "normal" speed. If you are adding a lot of video files, it may take some time. If the process is taking more than say four minutes and then it still runs slow, post back and give us some more information on what you are trying to do.
When doing video work, disconnect from the internet and shut down any other running programs including your anti-virus program and any anti-spyware programs. Don't use the computer for anything else at this time. How much CPU is being used during this time and what processes are using the most CPU time?

Set your computer to best performance using Windows. Make sure you have set enough virtual memory set (at least equal to your regular memory).

What video card do you have and have you updated the drivers for that card? V 8 really stresses that video card.

Just a slight addition: Always check for spyware/adware.

well, i run my spyware/adware occasionally, also i don't use any other programs when i used video wave, and sometimes we're on it for hours at time (right now) and it just moves like a snail; it's not just for a few minutes, it's for however long i use it. my graphics card is an nVIDIA GeFORCE FX 5200 256 MB RAM AGP 4X with the most current drivers. Also, i'm only doing a slideshow (just pictures, no video, and i haven't even started audio yet for it), my virtual memory is fine, i have it set to be managed by the system. any help is appreciated.

for the VM, set it to fix with a big value (like 2x the RAM), you will avoid the system to think about it.

I'm still new to Creator 8 but if it's anything like vs. 7 then it will hog memory (lots of it!!) from a previous task until you restart your puter.
