Hi, for some reason, my dell cant read dvd+R verbatum discs, and i was just looking for some solutions to this problem. I have a TSST corp CD-RW TS-H292B. It also cannot recognize the disc in the D drive either (TSST corp DVD-ROB TS-H352C)

Thanks

Of course a CD drive will never be able to read a DVD of any kind...

Question is, how were these discs written?

What OS are you running on this PC
Dell 8300 3.0ghz 1.5gb RAM 300gb & 200gb HDs
XP Pro/SP2
NVIDIA GeForce4 MX 440 w/AGP8X

Did you mean "TSST corp DVD-ROM TS-H352C"?

I don't expect my DVD-ROM - or even my combo drive (DVD-ROM/CD-RW) to read burned DVDs, whether +R or -R. Recordable DVDs are too new for them.

Your drives might well be too old for recordables, Lynn, but you can't expect everybody's drives to be like that. The TS-H352C specs say it handles:
DVD-ROM (DVD Book), Single/Dual
DVD-Video
DVD+R/RW
DVD-R/RW
DVD+R Double Layer

. . . .so perhaps Mr. Tr00per should carry on and answer James' question?
P4 @3.20GHz on Albatron PX-865PE Pro II with 2GB DDR-SDRAM, FX5900XT video, Viewsonic monitors,
BENQ DW1640, in XP Pro and Windows 7

I blame it all on Global Warming / Global Cooling / Global Staying the Same [pick one]

Know what Lynn means, and I didn't really think of that!

Of the 4, DVD drives I have (3 computers), only 2 of them can read DVD RW media! Neither of the older DVD-ROM drives can read!

I hope the OP is not just another drive-by-poster and will come back and finish this thread…

Well, I am not the OP, but I am having the same problem. Same DVD drive (TSSTCorp H352C) running on a Dell Dimension 9150 desktop. My OS is Windows XP Professional. The DVD is an hp dvd+r. I can't say how it was burned, unfortunately--I can try to figure out. But it is semi-vital that I access the information supposably on it. I have heard rumors people have trouble with TSST drives, so I want to make sure the problem isn't on my end.

Did you create the disc, or was it created by someone else and given to you?

Two possible scenarios (and there are others) are that it is a Sessions-based disc that wasn't properly closed, and that it is a Packet-Written disc that has either not been closed or has decided to be obstinate. (Packet-Writing - where the disc is formatted - is a bad choice for long-term usage.)

Or again, if it is on RW media, it could actually have faded out.

I'd suggest one of the recovery programs such as cdroller (www.cdroller.com) or ISOBuster (www.isobuster.com) - both have impressive testimonials on their websites and in the Roxio boards. Both also have "trial" versions that let you see if it can find anything before you have to pay.
