Hi, I've been using EMC since version 5 and 8, and now have upgraded to version 9.
I got an Epson CX3700 printer with scanner/copier built in and am using an Asus A8J/A8JR computer (Core Duo/Core2 Duo, 1.5Gb/2.0Gb memory, 120Gb HardDisk, running Windows XP Home). With my old laptop, my Epson Scanner software suddenly won't work and I had to reformat the hard disk to make it work again. At that time, I wasn't able to spot the problem. This time, my scanner programs were working fine and yesterday I installed EMC 9 into my laptop. This morning, upon running the scanner program, the same problem (as my previous laptop) is showing again. I can not use my scanner anymore. I can use the printer's copier function (which means the hardware doesn't have a problem), but there seems to be a conflict between the interface of the scanner software and the hardware. And all I did was to install EMC 9. Is there an issue regarding this?

Interesting; I have used three differernt scanners and two different Epsom printers on tis computer running everything from V7 up. I've never had a problem. There should have been no reason to format your hard drive if it was working correctly except for the scanner.

Have you tried re-installing the drivers? Remember there are two- one for the printer and one for the scanner. Go to the Epson site and update them if needed. Go to My Computer then right click, select Hardware and then Device Manager. Is there a yellow icon near it?

Try removing the scanner from your system while you are there and then rebooting your computer so the computer finds and re-installs it.

Post back with your results.

I don't see the Epson CX3700 listed at their support site, but there is a CX3800. I have two Epson scanners and EMC 9 hasn't had problem with either. I can even scan inside Media Import 9 using the WIA drivers.
