Purchased EMC 9 yesterday. Burning audio music CD's I have a 90% failure rate. Error messages received: "Seek, Synch, ATIP or Mechanical Positioning Error, Hardware Error" 14090008. Windows Media Player burns with no problem so am thinking its not a burner problem. Also, am using Sony media and burn at slowest speed possible. Burner is Sony brand.  Also try to ensure that all other programs are closed when burning. Purchased EMC 9 thinking file management and music burning features would make life easier but so far just frustrated.  Not too technically savvy....Any/all help most appreciated.  Let me know if system details are needed.

That particular error is saying that the drive can't position the laser correctly at the start of the burn

Possibilities are a dirty lens, bad media or the drive itself.

Try cleaning the lens and maybe a different brand of disc and see if that helps
If it ain't broke, fiddle with it until it breaks, then fiddle with it until you get it fixed

As Daithi said, the errors you're quoting are typically sent by the burner to the software, saying the drive is having a problem.

The details that would help now are this, are you copying from another CD or are you burning from files on your HD?  How old is/are the drive/drives you're using?  And what model number?
