I have been using DVD-RW disks to store zip copies of single folders for some time. Since upgrading to EMC9, all the disks written previously are reading as write-protected and I can't add or replace files. I can remove write-protection from the files but it tells me that the media is write-protected.

This leaves me with dozens of useless disks so I'd like to find a way to clear the write protection and use the disks.

On optical media you can't change a file that's been written like you can on your hard drive or a floppy.That's why it's write protected.
If you were writing in sessions or using packet writing (not recommended) then you'd be able to add files but if it's just a regular disc once it's been closed there is no more adding to it.

It does sound as if you are using Drag to Disc (packet writing) for what you are trying to do. That app has changed in version 9, and you'll have to do some moving of files and reformatting of the discs to get them to be writable. Read the first post in this post in the Tips section.
