When I install emc9 everythings looks like it installs good untill the restart. When the computer restarts all that comes up is the background picture. At first I thought this may be just slow restarting but last night I waited about 2 hours and nothing changed. I have attempted the "clean intall" and even tried limited startup thru msconfig. Each time it fails like this I have had to do system restore to be able to get it back working again.
Any more ideas for me.
Thanks
Dallas

Not knowing your computer specs I'm going to hazard a guess here that it's running very slowly and the resources are being run ragged
Boot into safe mode. Go to start, run and type in 'msconfig' (without quotes)
Go to the startup tab and look for RoxWatch9.exe and clear the check box (you could also do that for any other Roxio entry). Also, disable Drag to Disc.
Close and reboot, tell the nag screen that you want it to go away and you knopw you disabled some startup items
Let us know how that works out

If it ain't broke, fiddle with it until it breaks, then fiddle with it until you get it fixed

this still didn't work either. I disable all roxio and have already uninstalled most of them.
I have a dual core 2.13 intel with asus p5b mb. 2GB ram and 500 gb seagate sata300 hd. Running windows xp pro sp2. All updates have been installed as well.
Any other ideas? I'm thinking I may have to reinstall my operating system to be able to get it to install rght. I'm hoping to not have to tho.

What do you mean you "uninstalled most of them"?

Do you have Norton on your computer? When I installed mine, it installed but then I couldn't get it to open. I read where others had problems with Norton interfering. I deleted Norton and tried again, but it didn't work. Then I did the clean uninstall/install with Roxio and that time it came up without a hitch. Seems like other antivirus programs may have been causing problems as well. Good luck and hope you don't run into additional problems like the rest of us have.
Summation:
Uninstall Norton (other)
use clean install on Roxio
