Hi,
I have been using Creator Classic to backup to a DVD for awhile now. I use DVD -R 8x discs, my dvd-rom is 16x. The speed I used to get was 4x, not as fast as it could be but it is fine. Now for some reason, the speed has gone to 1x - 1.5x and that is too slow. I have disabled anything that was running in the background and there is no change in speed.
If you need any more info, please let me know,

Check for a firmware update for your drive.
It's possible the discs you're using aren't being recognised by the firmware and it is defaulting to a 'safe' s[peed

In Windows XP, right click my computer and click properties. The system properties window opens, click the Hardware tab and then click device manager. The Device Manager Window opens. From the top view, make sure a dot is next to view devices by type. Click the + next to IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers, right click properties on the secondary IDE channel, click the advanced settings tab. What are the current transfer modes for device ( 0 ) and device ( 1 )?
