Burning TiVo files with Quick DVD Hangs up, need to reboot computer

Help, please

I am new to Roxio 9 and just installed it on an Acer Aspire that has little else installed. Running Vista Home Premium. I can get to the Roxio home page and select Quick DVD, and load the file. Can use the video trimmer to select start and end points. I go to burn, next screen comes up, and no progress. There's some hard drive activity then nothing. Vista tells me the program is not responding. When I go back to Roxio Home and select Quick DVD again, it just takes me back to Home. Can't shut down, computer hangs. So have to just power off and reboot. What am I missing, this looks like it should be simple? Are there patches or some update I need to install? Web site is not clear about this. Thanks for any help you can provide.
