Updates to EMC 9 are rarer than hens teeth, regradless of being free or not!
It's like adverts for goods showing massive savings, but they haven't any in stock. What's the point?
Another weeks gone by and still no patch/update.
And John's still trawling these boards deleting posts. Pathetic !!!

I could understand if we wanted a upgrade to 10...but we're just asking for 9.1.
But they would probably want us to send back our original disk ,then send us the newer version...another 10-20 weeks...plus shipping and handling charges....so a patch is probably the only viable option.
sigh...maybe 1 person will see this before the delete police do...lol

He is correct James on this, it was a patch that MS released that stuffed up EMC on Vista.
They were meant to have sorted it , but as MS is they patch one thing and stuff others.
Let’s hope that any day now we see the patch up on line,
Also just note , don’t bet your life that this may solve your issues with Vista and EMC, as there is no way Roxio can 100% guarantee what driver software or Virus leftovers or spyware on peoples pc that may cause more issues.

I followed the above instructions, but when I started the application (MyDVD, or VideoWave) I got a Visual C++ Runtime Error.
Is there some Roxio 'Service' or 'Startup' that must be enabled for the above instructions to work?.

Odd timing that it's basically a year since the release of EMC9 and still no updates.
All software have their good and bads, it's how the responsible parties choose to address them that matters.
Some choose to satisfy their customers, while others, may choose to ignore them.
As the saying goes something like, only time and action will tell.
Let's just see how Sonic/Roxio handles their customers and their issues in the software.
Edited by Nerus, 04 September 2007 - 09:40 AM.
If it installs, it's supported.

!! SORRY !! It was my mistake/error.
I missed the 2 items in 3.h.
The MyDVD is now running (burning to .iso), will then burn .iso to disk.
Keeping my fingers crossed.

John, please don’t take this personally, but there is no excuse for Roxio to be able to release EMC10, and not have had time to release a working patch for EMC9. If the patch was so tough to produce, why in the world wouldn’t Roxio make the full 9.1 version available? Are you trying to lose repeat customers?
Why would anyone upgrade to version 10 after going through a year of non-support from Roxio for EMC9 ?
Ocassionally I lose the ability to select any drive as a source drive from Disc copier. Following the instructions from tech support with uninstalling sometime works, sometimes doesn't. The times it doesn't I reinstall Vista.
I have no confidence of the patch being released. The ethical thing for Roxio is to fish or cut bait. Make the full 9.1 version available for download to registered owners. Throwing in a bone for customers who have suffered with a buggy product for a year might be nice. (Extra discount for emc10 upgrade).

While reading all the posts from the forum, it looks to me that a lot of users think 9.1 update is this magic patch that would solve all the issues on Vista for EMC 9. What if it doesn't? You still have to troubleshoot the issue to get it resolved.
I understand your frustration since the patch is delayed for way too long. However, you might want to think about the possibility of having the same issue after having 9.1 on Vista. Also, I agree with gi7omy. I don't think John has any control over the release of the patch unless he is writing it himself.

I think you are right on the money. People think that when they run, 'the patch', the clouds will clear, the sun will shine and birds will be singing!!!
My bet is that the vast majority will have the same problems after 'the patch', that they had to begin with!
They will because they concentrated on bitching instead of fixing their systems or even trying to troubleshoot…

I agree with you on about the patch.
However, I think much of the confusion has been due so many "...this will be addressed in upcoming patch that may fix this...." responses in the early days of the patch dialog. As a result, over time exactly what the patch is suppose to actually address has been lost in all the responses/complaint postings, instead the "patch" has taken on a "super fix" identity.
As there is normally a requirement document before programming starts, perhaps someone at Roxio could take the time to review this document and provide a very brief list of what the "patch" is supposed to address. Then those waiting on the "patch" could see if it might address their problem or if they need to move on to something else. This should not take long and would probably save Roxio staff considerable time in the long run due to the time currently having to be expended in monitoring these forums for negative comments arising from the confusion over the "patch"

What it will NOT do is fix anything that is failing due to poor installation, poor computer maintenance, finger trouble or anything else.
If you are having problems with 9.0, then you will STILL have problems with 9.1
